Hi, I'm trying to do research on my Great Uncle Frederick Noel Culp who was in the Army. All I have is one picture of him and no one at all knows about his service. Where would be a good place to start?

Do you know anything else about him? Place of birth? Date of birth? When did he die? Those things would help. Put the picture up, that might help.

Well he was born on Christmas Day(hense middle name) I can ask my grandmother for the year. I'll try to find the picture but the thing is after the war he became a drunk and died at the age of 39. The only reason we know about his service is a supposed letter that my grandma got and the picture.

This appears to be his memorial page on Find-a-Grave.com. If it is, he was born too late to be in WWII. Of course, that doesn't mean he wasn't in the Army. He might have served during the Occupation or in Korea... or both.

I agree completely. I use it for family research as well as veteran research.

Thomas, was your great uncle from Danville? I wondered if he may have passed away at the VA hospital there?

Do you know if he had any relatives in Central Illinois? I know some Culps who live in that area. It is a long shot, but I can ask them if they are related.
