Can someone Please give me the websites to the WD GO & DA GO. Also is there a way to search for like a key word or person. I'm having all kinds of issues. If I cant search have do I go about researching to find something or someone weather it is Medals earned or actual missions, groups, crews, or a day in war? Or can I do this. Maybe there is already a topic on here. Any and all help will do. Thanks in advance!!!

FJH beat me to the question. Are trying to find specific GOs regarding your grandfather as was discussed in your New Member thread?

TD-Tommy I have completed my research on the grandfather you are asking about. Finally found out what I needed to know and was able to talk to a gentleman that his Father actually served with my grandfather. That was a long drawn out research but I was able to get everything. I now looking into my other grandfather. I have a ton of info on him and I don't need much just wanting to print and read.

Formerjughead I'm looking into 8th Air Force 100th Bomb Group 349th Squad Crew #40. My grandfather was credited with being the first American to shot down a German Fighter, he was a POW, and received The Purple Heart. Like I said I have tons of newspaper clippings, pics, and info on him just wanting to read and add. He also received The Air Medal w 1 OLC. I also have a interview with him.

If you are on a Windows PC, download FastStone Image Viewer. It has a very robust image editor & converter that is easy to use...And best is it is a free.
    http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm

Been using it as my default picture viewer & basic editor for some time now.

Do you have anything that says "Certificate of Discharge" or "Summary of Service" written across the top?

Not to put any pressure on you; but, that is the most telling and crucial piece of documentation that you can provide, everything else is hearsay. That would have been more substantial than the newspaper articles.

I found a couple websites with info on Stalag Luft IV. Your grandfather may be listed in one of the rosters at www.stalagluft4.org. The second roster on the list (a PDF) has a listing of: "Burton G W 2505 Chinn St Ashland Ky."

Here's another website with info on Stalag Luft IV: www.b24.net/pow/stalag4

formerjughead, I want to actually read in the GO books about the missions from March 4th and March 6th 1944. The first daylight raid over Berlin Germany. His crew flew 13 mission and was shot down on the 6th. I have read tons on it but never out of the GO. I have tons of information just wanting to read and print any facts out. I tried doing what you said and searching like DA GO 03 44 and nothing. Maybe you need to put like 12 44. I just don't know what im doing wrong.

Also nobody knows how he was wounded. it says on forehead and chest. Maybe flank or gun shot or who know??? I have searched and searched but nothing and he never told anyone. Didn't know if it was listed since he received the PH. Probably not, since so many earned the PH. Just anything more than what I have. I have done 100's of hrs of research. Like I said I have a lot just want more if it is out there.
