My name is Lori (B58th). I served in the U.S. army from 2001-2006. Currently living in Utah. No one in my family has touched genealogy since my great grandfather was alive....quite a few years back. I thought to myself that I should pick up the slack. I found a handful of third cousins who all served and died in Europe during the second world war. One was a waist gunner in a B-17 that was shot down over Germany. The second cousin, I'm having a bit more trouble finding any information on. Honestly, I don't think that I will find out much extra than what I have already found. Something has been nagging me for months about the circumstances of his death. So here I am reading every de classified paper I can get my hands on, pouring over old maps, and falling asleep at my computer trying to find anything I can. I'll be well versed in the history of WWii in the European Theater before this is done. Anyway, nice to meet ya!
Welcome aboard B-58th! There are many very knowledgeable folks here who may be to help in your search for information. Don't know if you are familiar with Missing Air Crew Reports but they are easily accessible and may provide some of what you seek. You can request Individual Deceased Personnel Files on KIA's from WWII from the Army Human Resources Command, these can provide a wealth of info. Just let us know what you need, I'm sure someone can help, good luck with your search!
Welcome to the Forum, Lori. I have previously posted in your Topic regarding HW Butterfield. I look forward to additional discussion over there.
