Hello! I am new to this forum. My screen name will be Kang. I am 54 years old and hail from New Jersey.

My personal library consists of four book cases with more than two hundred books. Some time ago I counted the books on military history and found that about 50% are on WW2, and about 20% are about the American Civil War. I have been interested in history and WW2 in particular since I was a teenager.

My hobbies have included war gaming and role playing games. Also, my hobbies include photography and dancing, and I have been a fan of science fiction for many years. I regularly visit museums and historical sites. During my recent summer vacation I visited: Uniontown PA, visiting Braddock's grave and Fort Necessity. I visited Harpers Ferry, Antietam battlefield, Valley Forge, the Flight 93 Memorial near Somerset PA, the battleship New Jersey, the Washington Navy Yard and US Navy Museum, Fort McHenry and the National Cryptographic Museum near Fort Meade MD.

During my recent vacation, I obtained my late father's photo album from my mother. My father's photo album includes his high school graduation photo, and his basic training graduation photo from Camp Wheeler. The album includes many photos of the occupation of Japan following the September 1945 surrender. I am beginning a program to save the photos in digital format and consider enhancement and colorization.

Unfortunately, my father and four uncles did not talk much about their WW2 experiences. My father and three uncles were in the US Army, and one uncle was a US Navy corpsman. Also, another uncle was too old to go to war, but served in civil defense. Only after their deaths did they reveal what medal they won, which units they served and in what locations. Two of my uncles landed at different places on D-Day in Normandy. May father and one uncle served in the same division in the Pacific but at different times. I recently found a news paper article about one uncle who returned in September 1944, and my father was inducted a few months later in December.
