I found these in a bunker complex near Renouville at Utah beach. I was poking around the big bunkers behind the dunes when I looked where a rabbit had been digging. I saw these two bakelite strips in the sand. One seems to have a cutout to make it easier to grab with your fingers. I think they are something to do with the german ammunition tins. Maybe shims to stop things from being shaken around. Any ideas please get in touch. Happy hunting. Regards, Gonzleton
It's a liquid which was used to soak the filter in a German gasmask - it was meant to neutralize the effect of gas.
