premeditated murder--why?

    here's a link to a murder that happened some time ago, but they released eerie messages the killer sent to his family...he murdered some of his ''friends''--asking for his kin to apologize to the families, but he needed to take them with him
    it seems these killers spend a lot of time wallowing in their tortured minds about perceived insults, hates, threats, hopelessness, etc...there is no immediate threat to their survival....I see this one as much different from the Columbines, ex-husbands that murder-suicides, etc
    my question is, is it really the ''wallowing'' for a long time that finally makes them to kill? the build up?? the dangerous idle mind? these types of kilings do not seem impulsive...any thoughts aprreciated, as you all have great insights to many topics
