Can anyone tell me anything about this formation. I believe it was active in the Ukraine/Belarus in 1942-43 but no more details.

    best regards

Not much through Google, as you're probably already aware. Possible mention of it here... http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gliederungen/JagerBtl/JagdBtl3-R.htm

"Gruppe Hasselhoff" is mentioned in the same text is the city of Vitebsk, Belarus, and a date of 1942. I don't know if this will be helpful. but good luck.

    Here's the page Google-translated to english: https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gliederungen/JagerBtl/JagdBtl3-R.htm&prev=search

that is worthy of a salute if you ask me KJ.....I never got into the Ostfront much....even though it was much bigger than all others.....it's what made it a World War regarding the numbers and area IMO

I wonder if there's a clue in it's being called Gruppe Hasselhoff rather than Kampfgruppe Hasselhoff? Mountain Divisions were sometimes used as anti-partisan units in areas where there was little large-scale action and it may be that was their function at the time. If so Hasselhoff might not be a Heer officer but SS or civil/SD.

    Regards

    Keith
