I am researching my dads unit from WWll. Company B 1298th Combat Engineers Battalion. They were formed in 1944 at Camp Rucker, Alabama. Moved to Camp Shelby, Mississippi to continue training before being sent to Hawaii then on to Nagasaki, Japan in September of 1945.

I am searching for any veterans who served in this unit or family members there of. Looking for info, photos, etc. of this unit.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank You.

    Welcome to the Forum, 1298ecb.

For info, you may want to try these resources, assuming you haven't already:

A book from the US Army History collection (PDF download), The Corps of Engineers: The War Against Japan

A very good WWII engineer website, VI Corps Combat Engineers of WWII. If you don't see anything on the 1298th on the website, contact them. They may be able to help. They also have a forum, so look on the left sidebar for the link.
