    Hello,

I was looking thru the personnel documents of an armored infantry battalion soldier who served in a mortar squad as a 607. His other MOS's didn't include a 745 for Rifleman however. Weren't all armored infantrymen in a Rifle Company trained or qualified as a 745 even if only serving in the ETO as a mortar crewman, or machine gunner for example?

    Thanks,
    James

No. You probably would have qualified with an M1 rifle, as well as your TOE weapon a pistol and/or carbine depending upon your particular job within a machine gun or mortar crew. You did not train in all the basic skills of a rifleman because you were concentrating on the basic skills of a crewman for your particular crew served.
