Nah, not really, just the opposite in this Pew poll. Americans and Canadians like each other more than just about any neighboring countries on the planet. It seems the only point in contention is that Canadians like Obama while Americans generally don't. Americans would probably prefer Harper if they knew who he was, but with all the sports seasons overlapping, then bass season, who has time for Canadian politics?

Would be that 16% be largely French speaking?

    Good neighbors, eh?

I'm sorry...they never asked this Albertan. Thinking Obama has almost ruined the US.
Also think Harper doesn't agree with a lot of things Bama says and does. Harper is very conservative. Bama has some whack ideas regarding natural weather cycles/taxation, immigration/voting, criminals, guns, Bengazi, Saudi Arabia/oil, terrorism, clock (bomb) boy, etc etc.
I like the old school US of A, not the way it is currently heading.

A foreigner's view of one's own country is always interesting. Distance and altered perspective can enhance perception--or obscure it. American and Canadian history and politics are so very different that I would hesitate a long time before offering any opinion about Canadian politics to a Canadian. Winston Churchill is much more controversial and less popular among Britons than he is among some foreigners, who generally only see the face Churchill showed to the outside world.

    True that.
The poll KB quoted did not speak for me or 90% of the peeps I know... the "76 % of Canadians" is complete bs, probably thrown at the wall to see if it'd stick.

As a thoroughly non-biased person with no political leanings what-so-ever, I can say that as a result of my expert observation and fact-finding skills it is a fact that most Canadians support Obama. Hatred for Harper runs high, but then again it always has. Harper's never received more than 40% of the popular vote since he first became PM but keeps winning due to our rather convenient system of the centre-left Liberal Party and leftist NDP splitting the left vote. But, as I said I'm a person with no political leanings so am unqualified to comment on the pathetic state of the Liberals/NDP or about how great PM Harper is........ If I *were* politically biased I'd fear the fact that Trudeau may become PM in a week and a half and would make plans for moving to a more culturally advanced nation should he win....but as I said I'm thoroughly non-political so I won't say that. I'm just saying that if I were political I would say that, because I have a thing known as "common sense". But don't misconstrue that as a political commentary.

Mental illness or mass delusionism must be running rampant in Canada if 90% of them are enamored with Obama.

    Cheers GP.
As an equally unbiased (redneck), i'd like to express another opinion (which i may or may not adhere to).
The price of oil has hit rock bottom. Canada should be in a heavy recession. Due to the current federal government, our economy has remained relatively stable...Alberta/ western Canada feeds the east, and they bite the hand.

Plenty more info on Trudeau family/genes, if folks take the time to look.
Would like to see some crazy Harper lineage, if its there...stability and everything.

The Liberals initiated gun control, which proved to be a huge, huge expensive failure. ..Currently handgun offenses in Calgary are through the roof. Mostly only criminals own them now.

    ps
voted ndp in provincial, just to let Harper know we can still toss em out. Think they puckered, and now on the straight and narrow.

Well Poppy, I sincerely offer my apologies to the unknown amount of Canadians who do not think that our current occupant of the White House is peachy keen. Please read on por favor.

I'd like to add to my comment in post #7, just to clarify things and not to start a flame war with our Canadian couzans (that Cajun French for cousin). I think that the only American networks that are broadcasted in Canada must be CNN and PMSNBC. That must explain why such a large percentage of Canadians think Obama is such a fine fellow. Other than that, I have no idea why they would think so highly of such a piece of s#1t.

Hey Poppy, I just looked at the forum stats and saw that only you and I are online now. Uh, no big deal, but I thought that it was pretty neat that we were the only two logged on and were actively engaged on the same thread.

It's easy to like somebody who isn't "regulating" your own economy into the dirt. Aside from the politics, it's nice to know how well we regard each other and how similar we are in most ways. Hell, the Scots and the English have more problems and they're in the same country.

Geesh, I saw the thread title and thought .... NO !!!

I quickly checked how to make Maple syrup (seeing how we'd most likely lose our supply due to the upcoming embargo) then actually read the post.

    What a dirty trick.

Just to be prepared, next Spring I'm tapping our Maple trees and stockpiling a few gallons.

"Maple syrup is made by boiling between 20 and 50 volumes of sap (depending on its concentration) over an open fire until 1 volume of syrup is obtained"
Thanks for making me look up maple syrup, Super B- it was an interesting read:

By any chance would your country be in a position to accept a thoroughly non-political, unbiased refugee? This is totally unrelated to my decision, but the new poll this morning shows a 5 point lead for Trudeau and the Liberal Party. But that news really has nothing to do with my decision. No, really -- its totally unrelated. Errr...I want to leave because of, ummm....personal reasons which are entirely non-political. But remember, my decision is totally independent of the seemingly impending defeat of our Prime Minister and the coronation of King Trudeau II. That has nothing to do with it. Really.

Arizona has a few openings left. There's plenty of recreational opportunities. You could sit on your porch and shoot at coyotes with a 1941 Johnson. Or you could sit on your porch and shoot at coyotes with a Garand. Or you could sit on your porch and shoot at coyotes with an M1 Carbine. Or you could sit on your porch and shoot at coyotes with a Mosin Nagant. Or you could sit on your porch and shoot at coyotes with an Arisaka. If that doesn't grab you, then you could sit on your porch and shoot at coyotes with a Lee Enfield.

Of course, if Queen Hillary gets the coronation next year, then you can just drink heavily.
