Hi, I am completely new to this forum, and here are some information about me: 1. My username is Arneball, because that's usually my online nickname. My real name is Arne. 2. I am born in 1989, so I'm currently 26 years old. I have always been more or less interested in World War 2, especially the last few years. 3. I come from Norway 4. Right now I am mostly interested in local resistance in Norway during the war. I work at a place called "Arkivet" in Kristiansand, Norway as part of my studies. That place used to be Gestapos headquarter in southern Norway. Now the place is a center focusing on history and human rights. 5. For hobbies I really enjoy playing computer games, mostly strategy games, and board games. I also like to read a lot, and try to read all kinds of books. 6. If anyone is interested in knowing more about Arkivet, or anything related to warsailors during ww2, feel free to contact me through personal message or my email: arneik@hotmail.com. I might be able to send you to some persons that can help you.
Welcome to the Forum, Arne. You may have some interest in the 99th Infantry Battalion (Separate) and the OSS NORSO Operation Group. Many soldiers who served with the 99th Battalion were Norwegian sailors who were stranded in the United States after Germany invaded Norway at the beginning of WWII. The NORSO group worked with the Norwegian resistance during the War.
I have always admired the Norweagens Joachim Ronnenberg and Knut Anders (and the rest of the team) for blowing the heavy water plant and also sinking the ferry carrying the stuff that ended Germany's atomic bomb research during WWII. Just can't get much more heroic. Welcome aboard.
Hi Arne. Welcome to the forum. I think reading is the best way to learn about a topic, although I'm discovering that the more you read the more there is to read.
Interesting! I will check it out. Hmm....I.m actually not sure....my co-worker say I should support Tesla Indeed! They recently tv-series called "Kampen om tungtvannet" (the battle of the heavy water) in Norway about this event. I will also recommend you to visit the heavy- water facility in Rjukan, as they have a museum there now about everything that happened there. I agree! My "to read"- list on "Goodreads" just gets longer and longer the more I read
