I am very interested in obtaining more Research Resources for the Second Soviet-Japanese War during 1945.
This is a very interesting subject area, but not a lot of authoritative information has been published on the net in English as far as I can tell.

I would be happy to discover Russian or Japanese expert publications - and test Google Translate!
    Anyone?

I believe that about half a million Japanese became POWs, and that they all ended up in Siberian Gulags, most never to see home again.

Its far from my favorite documentary series, however:
The TV documentary series Soviet Storm Second Soviet-Japanese War episode (up on Youtube) provides good basic information.

However the series is cursed with what can only be described as excessive re-enactment.
If only, if only they had used more film archives. They do a good job with veteran interviews though.

Its too bad that they did not do another episode (at least yet, in English) on the Second Soviet-Japanese War 1935 - 1941 period.

Japan's War in Colour (1 Hour 34 Minutes.)
"It was thought that no colour film existed of Japan before 1945"

"Using rare and, in some cases, never before seen color footage, this documentary examines World War II from the perspective of the Japanese.
The film also utilizes original letters and diary entries written by Japanese soldiers and civilians during the war.
Japan's War in Color looks to present both the innocent and the guilty parties involved in
what was culturally touted as a Holy War, and examine the effect it had on all of their lives."
