I'm interested in obtaining better Research Resources for the Second Sino-Japanese War 1935 - 1945. This is a very interesting subject area, but better authoritative sources would be appreciated. I would be happy to discover Chinese or Japanese expert publications - and test Google Translate! Anyone? In particular the Second Sino-Japanese War (July 7, 1937 – September 9, 1945) See the Campaign and Battle List on our sister forum, ww2talk.com at: Major Campaigns Of The Sino-japanese War and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Sino-Japanese_War#Battles
Unfortunately, and more precisely, it is a documentary on Unit 731...not the Second Sino-Japanese War.
Not on the Second Sino-Japanese War specifically, but with a lot of good info into individual subject matter pertaining to it. Good info on the Pacific War in general. http://pwencycl.kgbudge.com/
Don't know if you're still looking, but I'd recommend books by Philip Jowett. He seems to know a ton about the Chinese Warlord era and the Sino-Japanese war and gives some very good detail on topics (like Manchukuo armies) that not a lot of work has been written on in English. What I've read of his stuff has been good. Here's a link to his books that are on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=dp_byline_sr_book_1?ie=UTF8&text=Philip+Jowett&search-alias=books-uk&field-author=Philip+Jowett&sort=relevancerank His book 'Rays of the Rising Sun' was particularly interesting for me because it dealt with the various armies that allied with Japan during the Sino-Japanese conflict and gives some nice detail on their organisation and equipment. I don't think there is much else published in English on that kind of topic.
If you are proficient with the languages, connect local researchers in those Asian areas for detailed information. Please also provide this site and its history enthusiasts about the War. I am going to post a thread about the population of Vladivostok, mostly numbers.
