    Man...those fighter pilots, especially the P-51 guys that might fly many hours, what a grueling job.
    I hate being in my comfortable car for 2-5 hours. Imagine doing that (and more) in a single engine plane. No stops, no food, no bathroom, no stretching...no nothing.
    What a horrible task...must have been exhausted when they got back. Of course, I suppose they were always happy TO Get Back.

    no fly by wire--manual controls...no GPS,etc.. ....fear in combat, ......grueling yes.....I read for SR 71 pilot testing, they had to sit in a dark box for 14 hours....if my memory is correct
