I am trying to locate Miss Jeanette Romani and/or any children or family she may have in France. Miss Romani was engaged to my uncle, Frank Toth of Grandview Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio USA. The last my family heard from Miss Romani, she told them she was expecting Frank’s child. Unfortunately, my uncle never returned to France after the War to bring Miss Romani and their child to the United States.

Frank was with the 101st Airborne and served in the D-Day Invasion on June 6, 1944. I know, from letters, Miss Romani was in Paris when the Allied troops marched under the Arc De Triomphe. The following are addresses I have from Miss Romani’s letters:

    1) Rue Pietra Scrita, Menton, FRANCE (The letter was postmarked “Menton Alpes Mmes”)

    2) Route de Euriy, Nice, FRANCE (Postmark is “Alpes Nice” and there is a stamp on the envelope “Nice-Grimaldi”)

    3) The home of Miss Romani’s aunt: Chez Mme. Lafuma, 27 Ter Rue Haxo, Paris (20) FRANCE

The letters I have were written between January 15, 1946 and March 21, 1946. In one letter, Miss Romani makes reference to her uncle in New York City by the name of T. P. Ponte. He wrote a brief note (no address) on a post card from The Commodore Hotel in New York.

Information about my uncle’s child was a family secret because he married after the War and had a son. It wasn’t until recently I learned that I have a first cousin in France. I was told that Miss Romani had a very loving relationship with my family and she corresponded with my mother and aunt. Unfortunately, most of the photos and letters from Miss Romani to my family were lost after my grandmother died. Most of my family members who might have information about my uncle’s relationship with Miss Romani have passed, except for my mother who has Alzheimer's Disease.

If you have any information that would help me locate my first cousin in France, I would appreciate hearing from you on boomergen51@yahoo.com.
