    Hello all.

I am trying to translate some abbreviations on a WD AGO form 38 - Report of Physical Examination on Enlisted Personnel Prior to Discharge...

The information for box 4: Regiment, arm or service seems to have been combined in to the Name field.

My veteran served in Northern France, his organization is listed as HQ DET (MED) HQ COM HQ Theater. In looking at other forms, this box seems to be more specific, but I think this means European Theater Headquarters Detached Medic or medical, HQ Command, HQ Theater. He served from August '43-Mar '46.

I was hoping to get some more specific information about his regiment or the regiment/unit that he was attached to. I am hoping some of the mystery abbreviations on his physical exam form would help. The scan is a bit over exposed, but the letters as I can make them out are 29-F 3 ASF F W 5-7 2517. See attached shot.

Any help or thoughts you could pass along would be amazing. I only have 5 sheets of records, as the reminder were lost in the NARA fire.

    Thanks! View attachment 24521

Thanks Rich! Do you have any thoughts about the abbreviations on the Physical Exam form? The information for box 4 of the exam form is Regiment, arm or service. However, the entry for this box seems to have been combined in to the Name field.I have attached a picture in the original post - 29-F 3 ASF F W 5-7 2517.
