I've recently discovered an old SS dagger in my deceased Uncle's belongings. He served in Europe during WW2 and reportedly (according to my family) acquired the dagger from a German soldier in Belgium at a German POW camp in 1946. Can anyone tell me anything about this particular piece? Thanks in advance.

I'll take a shot. Eickhorn was a prevalent blade company during the war. The symbol emblazoned at the base of the blade is, I believe '33 to '39. Now whether it's a replica, I have no clue. The squirrel was used often.

I always quadruple check my items but, to be honest, unless a story is connected to it, such as yours one may never find the truth. SS daggers are very often copies. That may be something you want to authenticate.
