It appears to be a PZ 11, in the 1940 Greek campaign but I have never seen one with two MG 34's mounted coaxially with the cannon and the cannon appears to be larger than a 20mm. Could it be a pz 111 ? I looked at tons, no pun intended, of images online to no conclusion. Nice story to go with it. https://www.warhistoryonline.com/guest-bloggers/found-lost-panzer-division-wreck-marburg-full-german-tanks-guns.html Gaines
How about: Panzerbefehlswagen (command tank) III ausf E or F in Greece, fitted with a 37 mm gun and two coaxial machine guns (1941). https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/04/Bundesarchiv_Bild_146-1994-009-17%2C_Griechenland%2C_gefangener_Neuseel%C3%A4nder.jpg
Never saw one of those before. Looks like the inboard MG might be a true co-axial for sighting the 37mm while the outboard one is in a ball mount. Very nice find.
Thanks, guys, I had not seen that particular combination before either. went on a long search. Did not Tankopedia have straight elevations of nicely rendered tabnks at one time. Now I see a slightly overhead view at an angle. I really liked those side views. But cannot find them. Gaines
The inboard MG & 37mm were dummys. Your likely thinking of tanks-encyclopedia... It's still there in all it's armored goodness. Linky: http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/
I was wondering about that as this is a command tank. No room for a gun as commanders tend to have big heads. Did I say that out loud?
OpanaPointer, you did PM me something similar but it was "Moderators have big heads" Takao, two thanks ! One for the information. I had forgotten about command tanks being radio heavy but wanting to look defensible and thanks for the linky. I have been missing those rather well done imagines. A boon to modelers and tank admirers as well Thank all you gentlemen for your answers , Gaines Oh, moderators , I was going to defend your honor but any quick snappy comback completely escaped me (.
More room for evil thoughts and globalism. .................Power grabs, electronic invasions, world domination ande to think it aqll started here. skipper, how I wish I were in France watching the Tour ! with a little wine, cheese and good bread ! G
OP, I am confused, a little help, did commanders enter their tanks feet (bottom) first and moderators, if drafted, would enter how ? Did command tanks have bigger hatches for either eventuality ? One learns a great deal on this forum. Or should I said is confronted with a great deal of questions? Is their a head, bottom, hatch size equation. ? Was Barbarossa lost because of commander circumference rather than snow and logistics . For the sake of argument I am assuming commander=moderator in peacetime. BTW, if I am found shot with a 380, Jeff did it. Gaines
