Hello. I am new to the forum and the internet! This is the first forum I have joined I need help identifying the gold crown clasp on my dads WW2 defence medal ribbon.see attachment. He served in the RAF and was in Burma chindits (the forgotten army). Any help would be much appreciated George View attachment 24652
I have just learned that whenever he was promoted to Sergent major he was in Burma and Lord Mar made up his medals for him, so may have been something to do with that?
have you applied to the MoD for his service records? I've also sent you a private message/conversation. I know of a couple of Burma campaign experts who maybe can help .
AFIAK, there were no clasps awarded to this medal., so you are probably on the right track with Lord Mar.
I think Owen's suggestion that you apply for his records at the MoD makes the most sense. Edit: The crown seems to be part of a rank insignia. I think it was put there in error. Go to this site Crowns & Cyphers as used on badges & medals
