I'm looking for information on my grandfather that was in Unit 894 TD BN. I found a picture over the weekend with that unit number on it.

The unit page for the 894th Tank Destroyer Battalion (McCabe's first link) has improved a bit since 2011 (see his 2nd link). Thanks to a lot of hard work by Steve (WW2F name Natman) there is a bit more information on the 894th that you can download. There are some group photos now. Hopefully you will be able to find your grandfather in one of them. Do you know what Company he was in?

Can you post his name? I have a copy of the book by Patrick Chase and I'll check for his name. The roster lists unit members as of May, 1945. Can you also post the photo mentioned in your post?

Are you able to locate Steve B Marencik in the book? Based on the battalion and company picture, he appears to have been in the 894th Recon Company, however some personal documentation suggests he might have been in HQ company. Thanks!
