Yeah, inasmuch as I'd love to say naval aviation ended the war, it was mostly the B-29 that demolished Japan itself. With 67 cities firebombed and 2 cities leveled with atomic power by the B-29...it is hard or say the TBMs, SBDs, or the Grumman "cats" ended the war. BUT, they did play a role that allowed the Big Beautiful Boeing to base themselves in the West Pacific at all. Sure, the P-51s kept them safe, but the Navy (and Marine Corps) paved the hardest path forward.
