I totally think Hitler was a Genius with a drug problem. He lied to the German people who were all to happy to go along after ww1 and the payback. The Lebensraum lie was just one of man lies used to make the people follow and want to do everything this drug addicted Genius told them too. they didn't need living space, they needed money, jobs and to recover from the stupid payback we placed on them after ww1. iIt was a lie, but one of many!

Can you think what would have happened if he had not attacked Russia? If during operation Sea Lion when the Brits Air force was gone, what if he had pushed instead of thinking it was a trick. Where would the world be today?

then he stopped there after taking Great Britain and rebuilt, consolidated his power. what would be today?

ideas, theories, and feedback wanted. in other words discussion.

The Lebensraum - idea was written down in "Mein Kampf" 1924. Back then, Hitler didn't take any drugs, he didn't even smoke.

"Volk ohne Raum" was a slogan and today we all wonder how someone could believe it when Germany is almost half the size with more population. But to be fair, nowadays there are a lot of idiots which will tell you that a slightly smaller population will soon end up in a catastrophe.

Discussion of theory is one thing. To espouse the ideas of Hitler is another. From his earliest writings he was anti-Semitic, saw Russia as his enemy, and propounded racist ideas. In short, he was a megalomaniac whose dangerous ideas became the law in what was ostensibly a modern state.

The German experience of the First World war was of being surrounded and starved.by the allied blockage. Germans suffered 10% of a holocaust 600,000 deaths through starvation. Add this to theories of racial supremacy and it is possible to understand how the idea of seizing and colonizing Eastern Europe for the master race could gain traction, even if just as a beery discussion.

It may not have been taken any more seriously than the "send them all back" chorus of British xenophobes. The lesson from the Nazis is that it is possible to turn a political joke into a nightmare.

The goal of Barbarossa was to add the Ukraine to German productive lands, and to neutralize any threat to that new land. Hitler assigned people to get Germans to settle on these "new" lands with promises that they'd be "landlords" with the current occupants as serfs. They would be gradually eliminated by attrition or expulsion until the lands were wholly Aryan-populated.

    Lebensraum, ja, lebensraum!

he was a complete megalomanic, but lets face it. he was a corporal in the first war, supreme leader in the second. he was a genius, that due to drugs became crazy and torn down the third Reich. Thank god no one killed him, he destroyed it more than any allied war effort with his insanity.

I don't think Nazism was ever meant to be a political joke. it was a real threat that everyone didn't take seriously enough! due to the allied stupid idea to make the German's suffer and pay all the allied countries from WW1, the political climate was ripe for the taking.

The concept of National Socialism and the precepts it stood upon was a farce. Antisemitism was and is a real threat, but the methodology of the DAP and Drexler's amalgamation of theories that resulted in the NSDAP was a joke. A political party driven by half brained ideals and hate. Hitler was easily duped because he wasn't a genius, he was a egotistical narcissist, mommas boy who could only summon hate. His only skill was his ability as an orator and he could charm. He was skilled at deception and emotional politicking especially when he senses weakness in his political rivals.

If you look at it like that all government systems are a joke. even ours... but these systems hide real threats, even ours. they couldn't come to power with just Antisemitism, but they could with Socialism with that part of it. Hitler had many great attributes, early in the war he lead with great success. It's only after his rampant drug abuse that he lost it and destroyed the Reich thank god. there were tons of warnings that the Germans were coming, but no one acted...

I personally think the way he treated and probably killed his niece was the greatest insight into Hitler. All his worst attributes in one showing.

I don't like Nazi dogs or Hitler, but if those are the only positive attributes he had he wouldn't have been able to almost take over the whole world. The fact is I wish we could have skinned him alive, or kept him in a cage and bathed him in Jewish pee and poop 10 times a day and feed him Jewish food in a Jewish Zoo in Israel , but he had abilities and skills that like so many others drugs destroyed. But honestly thank god he lived long as he did, he did more to destroy the Third Reich than any Allied War effort.

I often compare Lebensraum to manifest destiny

"Manifest destiny" was directed against territory considered empty of civilization or nations. Lebensraum was directed against the settled territory of other European nations. Both had horrible effects on the people actually living there and both were "racist" in their attitudes to the people living there. However, the US Government policy was rarely one of extermination and was viewed by the perpetrators as bringing the benefits of civilization to savages. Nazi Germany's policy was one of extermination, pure and simple.

The Lebensraum strategy was based on the theory, that the slavic people were unable to use the rich territory in eastern Europe as effective as Germans could do. This could be not a complete lie but it didn't matter, it was slavic territory and the Germans had nothing to do there. Therefore the "Volk ohne Raum"-theory was added which claimed that the german population was growing fast and needed "room" to flourish.
This was a lie and not understood by the vast majority of german people which didn't want to move to Eastern Europe.

There were weird and childish plans of Himmler what would happen to the new Lebensraum after a german victory. He wanted to change the russian steppe in the South into something like a huge Black Forrest so that the country would be more familiar to german tastes. And Lebensborn facilities should produce as many blond germanic children as possible, so that after the russian population disappeared the gaps could be filled.

He was neither a megalomanic, neither a genius, and he was not crazy .On the one hand,he was more realistic than one assumes(maybe he was the most realistic one of the Third Reich,) on the other hand, he belonged to a generation that was convinced that Germany would take the place of Britain, not the US, and that to do this, it needed to form a great continental colonial empire, where there would be no place for non Germans .

Why not. The American policy considered the Native Americans savages, and used violence, murder, captivity (reservations vs concentration camp) to take over their territory. The Germans considered Slavs savages. Be objective. The person who doesn't use objective common sense can't have a realistic conversation.
