May they rest in peace.

I see two of those pilots were killed by Kurdish guerilla. Weren't the Kurds fighting for Iran in this war?

as you may know, the Kurds are Populated in Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Syria;

also has some Paramillitary groups with different Ideaologies...

The Kurds who fight for iran was mainly "Peshmarga" and "Komba 11" groups...

on the other hand, they had some groups like:

Shams Group - PJAK guerrillas - Mojahedin e Khalgh Organization (MKO) - Komoleh-Democrat Party - PUK - PDK and many other small organizations ...

also Traitors used as Pathfinder and 5th Column ...

it`s like your country (and any other one) in WW2;

Some Joined German side (SS Free Corps), another group joined Resistanse groups (like your grandfather), afew didn`t do anything...
