Really makes one wonder who is really in charge doesn't it? I had to wonder if Barnum and Baily will ever want their clowns back when this is over.
Although I've lived in Chicago for almost 15 years, I'm still a Canadian citizen and cannot vote for either candidate, not that I would. Both are terrible examples of the broken political system. I must admit the sadist in me would like to see Trump win simply because Chicago is a huge Hillary stronghold. Add to the mix the Trump International Hotel and Tower which is situated in the very heart of the city with the name "TRUMP" emblazoned on the side, taunting all passers by. The streets would be awash in wails and gnashing of teeth.
I don't care who wins, it's not my country , please just let it end soon , I've had enough. Though it will be something we'll always remember from our holiday this summer, nothing but the election on the news (ok & Team USA winning lots of medals at the Olympics) , all the novelty merchandise in the shops & the chap climbing Trump Tower in NYC with rubber suckers.
I am not a fan of either at this point, but Trump is a horrible human being. I too am appalled that this is the best the political organs can come up with, but if Trump succeeds, every country will be hurting. Regardless of citizenship, I would be worried.
That is the problem, KJ, Hillary is a horrible person, too. I don't what I going to do. Possibly for the first time in my life, I will not cast a vote for President. Regardless, like Owen, I am ready for the crap to be over.
Surprised myself by watching a chunk of it, despite loathing these leader debates and their spread across the Atlantic. Both equally revolting, aren't they. Though I do share Owen's 'not my train set' view, and seem to also have a streak of the Grofaz's 'Let it burn, may maximum outrage flow!' about me. Good luck 'Murca, you possibly bleedin' need it with either of those two.
I think, at this point, it is the lesser of two evils (which I despise thinking). The fact that Trump has a lousy, if not vacant idea of what foreign diplomacy is makes me cringe. It seems like this president will be a mere stop gap. Hopefully the country will still be on the map after it's all said and done.
This short video encapsulates all the important points in the debate, in 90 seconds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPTnV3EYwGw
Look on the bright side: regardless of who wins, you'll only have 4 years of hell before you can push a new sucker...errrr "nominee" into the job. Maybe you'll luck out and get a higher form of cretin than the two you have running right now!
These debates are overestimated (not only in the USA) and that's why they are boring and useless: no one wants to make a mistake. The only interesting aspect about it: Is Trump smart enough to change his strategy in the next ones?
Not trying to defend the American political system but...... I seem to recall a recent referendum in a certain far away European nation that was supposed to be the Armageddon. Economic ruination, secession after secession, civil war, carpet bombing of nuns and orphan's, Alien invasion, dogs and cats living together, loss of cable, satellite and internet access, all the great tribulations of the modern world. Just saying.
Four years? Puh-leeze. This crap will start again in about two years, just as soon as the mid-terms end (which start as soon as the current circus is settled) and will drag interminably just like it always does. Our parties spent so much energy and money and look what they come up with.
I was debating on not voting either, but I can't get the notion out of my head that if I don't, then that will benefit Hillary. She is a socialist as is the Democratic Party, and I am not a socialist so I can't vote for them. So I will vote against Hillary.
I'm a Clinton supporter and extremely anti-Trump. That said, I watched the debate last night and was honestly appalled at some of the things Trump said. Nonetheless, I don't think they accomplished anything. If you're a Trump supporter, nothing he said or did would persuade you otherwise. If you're a Clinton supporter, nothing she said or did would persuade you otherwise. Bah. I think I'll go back to reading about and commenting on WW2.
I failed to mention that I didn't watch the debate, nor will I watch any of them. God help us no matter who wins.
MSNBC did a focus group of undecided's during the debate. The group felt (65/35 roughly) that Hillary 'won', yet none of them were swayed by the debate out of being undecided. It looks like in the end it will come down to fear of Trump vs loathing of the status quo barring some 'October Surprise'.
