I'd appreciate any help I can get. If there's a matrix anywhere on the internet to help me figure this out, or if any of you reading can provide me one, I could probably do this solo. It's just that I cannot find the info anywhere....My step dad is deceased, and am seeking info regarding his WWII duties and locations. His particular records were " lost " in a fire at the St.Louis in July 1973 ( If I remember correctly ) I need info on these 3 things: 1) ["Name" Box] ASF F W 5-7 16167. 2) ["D.O./Subvoucher No." Box] 24B-9-35 Nov 3) ["Hon.Disch.by reason of" Box] AR 615-365 RR-1 Demob I'd really appreciate any info anyone could provide. Thanks,
This may help with some: http://www.80thdivision.com/PDFs/ReadingUnderstandingWWIIDischargeDocument.pdf Mark
Thanks so much Mark, it definitely helped. I see that the ASF meant " Army Services Force ", but he had ASF- F. Do any of you reading know what the last " F " designates ? Thanks again.
There is a green book on the ASF: http://www.history.army.mil/html/books/003/3-1/CMH_Pub_3-1.pdf you might find something in there of interest. I didn't find the "- F" though. Hyperwar has some info (https://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USA/StatReview-ASF.pdf) as well but I can't seem to get there right now and it may be the same document as above.
