I've never heard about this custom. Very interesting.

 

Sunset time 'peaked'...or should that be 'minimised'...in the Northern Hemisphere about a week ago so the good news is that it is already getting 'lighter' at night. The bad news is that sunrise is still getting later (but only by a little bit) for about another couple of weeks....good excuse for a lie-in? The net effect of the later sunrise and later sunset is that the nights are now getting shorter.

 

It is dark a lot here in the winter. ..So- beer...Seems weird that it being so cold, we drink cold beer. ..thinking it is a player in why we performed so well in WW1 and 2.
