    Hello from West Virginia

New to your site maybe this question was asked before.

I'm confused about the item in the attached photo.

What was its purpose? In other words attached to what?

I have looked all over the web no clue and was surprised by the 1953 date.

    Thanks, Halfdime

It's a post war commemorative associative pin offered to the veterans of the Africa Korps who fought the 1941-43 campaing. It stems from a 1953 meeting (1953 Bundestreffung) one of the first after the war. It must have been quite a party with a lot of famous veterans attending.

    Thank you,
it did not look a item which was attached with a pin I guess the attaching mechanism is missing.
Would you know if a picture of one with the attachment is available anywhere? It is possible I may have it but do not realize what it was for.
I did do a search for "Afrika Korps post war commemorative associative pin" the results did not include this item.
