I think this bayonet may be a German police dress bayonet with 7 1/2" blade. Does anyone recognize the maker may be before 1939? Someone asked about buying but I have no idea if it worth very much.
It looks like an early WKC Sollingen blade. http://quanonline.com/military/military_reference/german/brands.php
It is not a Police bayonet. It is a Army Dress bayonet. It should have a frog and a knot. Rich A. in Pa.
The bayonet was in my Dad's collection do not know where he got it but I grew up with it. Dad was in the Army wounded in the Philippines never really talked about it much. Dad passed away in 2008 so I'm going to dispose of items my kids do not have a interest in. My son is a Major in the Air Force very proud of him. The forum has assisted me identifying this item and the Afrika Korps 1953 medal. Nice to reach out and get assistance thank you. A quick story from my Dad serving in the South Pacific. Dad rubbed Square Snuff however Dad could not locate Square anywhere on ship or on shore. Dad wrote the Square Snuff company about his problem. Square Snuff responded by sending Dad a carton of Snuff every month until his discharge. Dad rubbed Square till he passed at 88 years.
Hi guys, sorry to interrupt you in the progress. I own a WKC bayonet myself produced in 1942 with bakolite grips and complete with frog. I've read WKC were produced for police but it looks like regular Wehrmacht/SS bayonet blackened and without the vinger protection. Is this true or was it just a manufacturer like any other? I have added a photo but its poor quality it happened to be on my phone luckely enough. I post better ones tomorrow. Regarding the bayonet above it looks like a regular parade bayonet with a nice stamp tho. I think its indeed Army, I know that police had bayonets similair model but with a grip that had an eagle in it. Grips made of antlers.
I never heard of that. The dress bayonet could be Heer or Luft. The bayonet in the pic is a regular 84/98k field bayonet. It should have a metal scabbard with marks matching the bayonet markings. Also a leather frog. Rich A. in Pa.
Thanks for the reply's. I could not locate any additional marking/stamps on the scabbard or bayonet. The bayonet release button functions fine. The identity of the maker may remain a mystery.
