Hello my name is David, I’m 42 from the UK. I decided to join as I’m getting really hooked on the interesting world of WW2 discussion. I suppose I have been getting more interested in the last 6 month. I’m currently studying The Third Reich, the Holocaust and anything around Hitler and his Henchmen/Generals. I’ve been watching lots of Documentaries on SKY and watching lots of films surrounding the above, as well as related books. I had a Great Grandad who served in WW1 and a Grandad who served in WW2, both of which were killed. Again I have been doing some research on this as well. I must admit I like studying Hitler himself and everyone and everything connected to him. Last year I visited Terezin Concentration/Prison Camp, just north of Prague and I’m going to Krakow next month to visit Auschwitz – Birkenau. Well that’s me for now in a nut shell...
Hi David. There's lots here to read on topics of interest to you. Use the search function to help you find relevant information. Have you contacted the MoD to get material on your grandfather? If not, you might want to do so.
Thank you all for your warm welcomes.. LRusso216 : Most of the information I obtained was from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website >> http://www.cwgc.org/
Never have any luck with links but this gives you the info to apply for your Grandad's army service records. Good luck. Sorry no luck with link but they are based in Glasgow and easy to find on an internet search, sorry
No. Use this one. https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records/apply-for-someone-elses-records 30 quid for service records. For proof of death print his cwgc website entry off & use that.
