"An extraordinary pensioner who helped beat the Nazis by building Lancaster bombers - and even taught Hollywood’s Ewan McGregor how to rivet - has died at the age of 93. Former factory girl Susan Jones was known to residents in Failsworth as ‘Rosie the Riveter’ - after the woman depicted in the famous US war poster. She was among the hundreds of local woman who sweated long hours in unforgiving circumstances to support the British war effort. Relatives of the ever-cheerful pensioner, who was known among war veterans at home and abroad, have revealed she died on Sunday, January 29, after a short illness. Ardwick-born Susan was just 16-years-old when she signed up to work at AV Roe’s Chadderton Greengate building Lancaster bombers in World War Two, also worked at Failsworth’s Ivy Mill. When the war ended, Susan was among thousands of other munition girls who downed tools and went on to find other jobs." http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/rosie-riveter-susan-jones-failsworth-12566032
