Pays to check what's lying around in your loft. "An extremely rare map of Hitler's bombing targets during the Second World War has been unearthed after more than 75 years. It belonged to a Luftwaffe navigator and highlights important buildings and infrastructure in central and south London, including Battersea Power Station and Chelsea Barracks. Other notable German targets were the Duke of York's headquarters and Fulham Palace, the home of the Bishop of London. The map, which focuses on Kensington, Wimbledon and Fulham, is dated from November 30, 1941, 14 months after the Germans began their Blitz bombing campaign on British cities. It was found in the loft of a late Second World War air gunner and is believed to have come from the debris of a shot-down Luftwaffe. The 36ins by 27ins map, which is single sided and waterproof, is being auctioned off by his family and is tipped to sell for £200. Key targets are marked with red blobs, while railway stations have red boxes drawn around them and a train logo inside. Power stations and other works are highlighted in purple, while black lines accentuate the bridges." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4256244/Map-revealing-Germany-s-WWII-bombing-targets-discovered.html#ixzz4ZbxPBDUO
Some silly money wanted for maps, Skip. I remember years ago a buyer in Texas bought up several different lots of WW2 RAF maps on ebay for reasonable prices, About eight months later he tried to sell them all as one big lot for about £1500. After three relistings, they were taken down as unsold.
It would depend on a lot of things. I bought quite a few over the years, think the most I ever paid was about £30.
This one is a waterproof version though. It's also fluorescent for night vision and it's worth about 100-150 pounds. The markings don't add to the price as it's hard to prove they were written during the war or not.
