Who could give me a hand with this one?
I saw a man yesterday who told me about a crashsite where A Junkers 52 forced landed west of Bricy(France) on June 7th 1944 at 00.30. Apparently this transport aircraft was shot down by an allied intruder. I have very few details at this point:
I believe it belonged to 1/TG1 (or 2/TG1 ? , I really am not a specialist fot transport units). It was heading west towards a base in Britanny. I don't know where it took off from (Maybe Bourges or Avord? could be Germany too) It apparently transported Luftwaffe groundcrew as two Mechanics perished and six wounded were taken to a hospital in Orleans). I don't have their names .

I have more info on this Ju52. This aircraft was lent to JG11 when JG11 moved from Rothenburg to Rennes with refuelling at LE MANS. They were led by Hauptmann Simsch. This was the day after D-Day. The FW 109 from JG1 flew during the day, the Ju 52 transported some of the ground crew at night. The rest of the Staffel drove trucks.
JG11 had a terrible day fight flight. They got into a fight with Mustangs, got terrible weather, lost 6 ground crew in the JU 52 and when they eventually got to Rennes they found out that the airfield was on fire and the runways destroyed. They managed to get back to Le MANS and the Luftwaffe got a runway ready for in Rennes the next day.
