A real curiosity popped up on UK TV this afternoon ; one I'd never even heard of - 'Armored Command' (1961).

In black & white, it focusses on a small US Combat Command in the Vosges during Operation Nordwind, January 1945. Definitely B-move fare, starring Howard Keel and Earl Holliman. At least it was filmed in Europe, so the locations actually looked realistic.

Oh, and 'way down the cast list was one 'Burt Reynolds'.... ;)

Howard Keel?! Bit of a step-down from "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers"!
Can't say I've heard of it either; might have been made as a riposte to Attack! Martin. Funny how those two, then Hell is for Heroes and Combat all seemed to follow each other.
Regards,

Gordon

A lot of the film was obviously shot on US Army training areas in West Germany. Rather confusing with all those '60s US tanks 'acting' for both sides. However, the 'Saving Private Ryan'-type fighting in a small town was actually fairly impressive for a low-budget movie.
