I believe that Roosevelt has a little bit of Italian blood (tiny bit), but was Irish mostly. Guiliani is all Italian and the fact that he doesnt have money plays a roll as well.
The war against Russia will be such that it cannot be conducted in a knightly fashion. This struggle is one of ideologies and racial differences and will have to be conducted with unprecedented, unmerciful and unrelenting harshness. -Adolf Hitler

PzJgr, around here we call them the Dixie Chickens ;-D Also, I feel all too strongly that Bush will screw up that compromise with Uncle Vlad.

What really stews me up is that here we go and invade and then find out that the info was not true. Ooops. we made a mistake, but we will still attack and carry on having our troops killed. Now, we are talking about using Korea as a model for occupying Iraq???? As a Texan I believe in doing the right thing for the right reason. I really cannot stand our image being dragged into the sewer like this. Grrrrrrrrr

I'm just thinking because of Russia's instability, in case of a civil war, these missiles could rather become a propaganda tool, to scare potential enemies.. no sense fighting when you know your gonna lose and increase casualties. I really doubt Russia would try to pull a fast one on Western Europe.

I was under the impression a Signiore Giacomo Roosevelti had brought ravioli al'alliolo into the US about 1840, founding the dinasty.

Thanks for the genalogy. There are many Dutch ancestors there, no doubt, especially next to other Dutch names and the "Van" prefix. Some English names too. The Delano names deserves more information though. It sounds quite Italian but it's an old name that was present In Colonial America way before the Italian immigration.

I used to research genealogy and had managed to carry all of my lines back to the 1700s, some to the early 1500s.

According to my book American Surnames, Elsdon Smith, Chilton Book Co., 1969, Delano is French and refers to "the dweller in or near a marsh, although some came from the village of Delanoe "of the wet land", a town in France." Apparently there is no Italian in FDR.

Other ethnic versions of the name:
Dutch Vanderveen Ten Broeck
Italian Padula
Russian Bolotin or Brody
Czech Mares
Finnish Neva
Japanese Tanaka

I knew there was something with that name. If it's French, then it would probably be Huguenot (Protestants) The Huguenots took refuge in the Low countries to flee persecution from Louis XIV. They were offered opportunities by the Doutch who suggested they immigrate to New Amsterdam (NewYork) Many of them accepted and settled in places such as New Rochelle . The most famous of these guys was probably Peter Minuit who bought the Island of Manhattan for the Dutch from the Indians for the equivalent of 26$!
Delano = Delanoy or Delanoe (the name of the Mayor of Paris by the way)

I believe the west is not afraid of the last war , but of the one that almost took place during the cold war and that might happen again if an arm race starts over again.

Newt Gingrich will be on the ticket for the white house ;)

The bargain has been called the biggest rip off of American History. I don't know what the 2007 equivalent is, but it's dirt cheap.

I like it...Reprehensibles.

The most disfunctional and overpaid Congress in History (since the last election) ?

Be careful what you wish for...I guess.

Speaking of Rip-Offs...Insurance----for anything. All you're doing is paying for their "Lobbiests" to raise your rates----again.

and the cycle continues... To Infinity, and beyond !

Love the "Bonnie Blue"

2007 version is supporting an occupation of a foreign country based on a lie and justifying the raise of gas prices giving the oil barons their profits, thus the lobbyists have earned their pay.

Who is Gingrich?

I'll go with the last election as being the worst. At least he wasn't a socialist like the current Speaker of the House is.

She's good flag. I used to fly a Bonnie Blue out on the front porch. Had a neighbor ask me why I was flying a "general's flag." To use a good Southern phrase, they ain't from around here.

PzJgr, I respectfully disagree with you but since this is not a current events forum and probably all we will do is get each other's blood pressure up, let's not start a donnybrook. I don't want a nasty-gram from Otto.:D uh er, not that he would send one, though.
