Hey anyone post some info here. I know the Army took it the same time as Wewak. Was there an Airbase there? Or was MacAuthur just getting his men some experience?

Battery Steele is an unknown quantity at this point
In April 1944, MacArthur ordered a combined air and naval attack against 50,000 Japanese troops.

The Battle of Aitape, was Gen. Douglas MacArthur attempting to claim bragging rights for keeping his famous promise to reclaim the Philippines.

The USA got lucky on this one.This battle could have easily gone the other way.

IMHO for I am NOT a big fan of "Dug-Out" MacArthur.
