Default Iwo Jima news

Hi

A couple of news items about Iwo Jima.

The last survivor of the first flag rasing, Chalres Lindberg, has died.

A search is under way for the body of the marine camerman who filmed the second flag raising, William Genaust.

Links to both thgese stories can be found at a good site that colates the latest news about the island and the battle 62 years ago.

Charles Lindberg was one of the guys who raised the flag at Iwo ? Where did he park the "Spirit of St. Louis" while he was doing it ?

They were different people, same name. And yes he helped raise the first flag on Iwo. As I recall he led the patrol up the mountain for the first time.
