The Bermuda could not have heard of the atomic bombs nor the Japanese surrender in Sydney if she arrived in the Philippines on 23 July, since that date was
before the atomic bombs were dropped and three full weeks before Japan actually surrendered. So it's possible the report of being attacked by Japanese planes on 6 September is also in error. The account does not state where the attack took place, nor any other details, so I'm skeptical.
