Here are some interesting aircraft the germans captured from the fleet air arm in WW2, amongst them the Fairy Albacore, Brewster Buffalo, Vought Corsair, Seafire and Fairy Fulmar. All very interesting.

Shocked to have found out about the Corsair because I was pretty sure the US did not use these in the European Theater. Did not know the Brits used them off their carriers. Nice link

It is actually a british cosair that crash landed in norway. The britis used them off their carriers before the americans did. The americans didn't trust the landing gear on them.

You know, that is correct. Only the Marines used them off of land air bases. Something about the long nose and not being able to see ahead of the plane.

I've heard similar about the long nose. Carrier based spitfires would have been the seafire which was widely used by the Fleet Air Arm both in europe and out in the pacific.

Thats the data provided by the Fleet Air Arm Archive.

Try this for a quick bit of info on the corsair:

The americans eventually did adopt it in late 44 when an improved version came into service with strengthened landing gear. It was to serve into the early 50's.

Thanks for putting out that information, I too did not know the Corsair was in the FAA. I have seen them in the New Zealand military. The artist picture of the Corsair in German markings is really good !

Here is another interesting page with allied aircraft captured by the germans:
http://members.aol.com/dheitm8612/capture.htm
It includes some of the aircraft used by KG200.

I love the Piper Cub in German markings!! What a great find! From looking at this huge list you would think pilots wanted to join the German side or something.
