OX and BUCKS Light Infrantry is an unknown quantity at this point
I found this website and thought other members may like to see a very worthwhile project that is taking place now

The link will send you off to the re-building of a full size Horsa glider from original drawings.
The site has a couple of pictures by David Thorp, there is a very nice one called 'surprise, surprise'
Also lots of photo's of the work in progress.

This is not the Glider that is being built for the Pegasus memorial in Benouville, France, but one that will remain in the UK (I suspect at RAF Cosford)

Its an excellent site. No more Blah then here is the link

http://www.assaultgliderproject.org.uk/

Regards Graham.

PS the David Thorp piccies are under 'unit histories' Glider pilot regt....

Thanks, Graham - I wasn't aware of that one. If you're near London next year there's a complete original cockpit & fuselage section at the Mosquito Museum, Salisbury Hall which is where the Airspeed prototypes were built.

Thanks Martin,

I would like to see the 'real thing' rather than a model.

However I do think that the guys on this re-building project have taken on a massive task.
Can only hope that they do get it all completed and that it is displayed in a good museum like Cosford......You may not be aware but entry to Cosford is now FREE . Its right next to the M54 motorway should you ever feel the urge. You may have already visited but if not its a good day out

Regards Graham

Its a few years since I visited Cosford, Graham - I was nearby on business and called in ; it was well worth the effort !

But recently some exhibits have been 'shuffled' with Hendon and I understand that Midlands enthusiasts are threatening to stage a kind of 'Yarrow march' on London to protest at the Me-262 shifting down here...
