Hi Guys

I am new to the forum so please bear with me. I have owned several De-Act rifles over the years and am now looking for an MP38/40 old spec De-Act
I have a couple of questions:-
Are there any common faults I should look for.
what are the differences between the 38 and the 40.
what should I be paying for a good to mint example, and finally does anyone know any reputable dealers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Les

Hello Les.

first, the easy bit. The mp38 features a 'fluted' or corrugated-looking receiver and is generally better-machined than the mp40, which features a more effective safety.

Now the bad part. Even 'new-spec' mp40s are hard to find, mp38s almost impossible. The last old-spec mp40 I saw for sale a year or two back was going for £550.00, the last mp38 £1200.00.

You'll find all the reputable dealers advertising in the back pages of 'Gun Mart' magazine ( monthly, and you can get it at W H Smiths ). Try phoning someone like Douglas Landy at Witham SV in Lincolnshire & he'll keep an eye open for a suitable gun for you.
