So, who does everyone think was the best WW II era (by this I am including their post war careers not simply their wartime efforts) aircraft designer ?
My choice: A tie between Kelly Johnson (Lockheed) and Kurt Tank (Focke Wulf / Indian Aircraft Industries post war).

Exclamation

Possibly not the 'absolute best', but worthy of inclusion is Roy Chadwick, designer of the Lancaster and responsible for the concept of the Avro Vulcan bomber.

Killed in the Avro Tudor airliner crash, 1947.

I'm shocked no-one has mentioned Sydney Camm the man responsible for the design of the Hawker Hurricane, Hart, Fury, Typhoon, Tempest, Sea Fury, Sea Hawk, Hunter and the Harrier.
