I was wondering if the Germans ever designed/ built or planned a shotgun due to the large amount of urban combat they faced in mid 1944?
Anyone know?

No, the Germans made no military use of the shotgun in WW2.

Redcoat is right. I have read a large number of books about German smallarms and have found no refrence to official use of shotguns in WWII, except for the Volksturm using civilian weapons at the end of the war when anything that could shoot was pressed into service.
