'The Ju 87 must take the first prize for being the ugliest, most lethal-looking and sounding aircraft to have done battle in WW2. Looking at it, even in model form, it is easy to imagine the terror generated by the cry of 'Stukas!' in the early years of the conflict...'

So writes Gerald Scarborough in 'Classic Aircraft No. 5 - Ju 87 Stuka' . I've just bought one of the Corgi diecast Stukas ( brilliant model, BTW ) and he's right. What a potent symbol of German Blitzkrieg this quite bizarre-looking aircraft became.....

wilconqr will become famous soon enough
I own a collection of Postage Stamp die-cast airplanes from Model Power that includes a Stuka. Their planes are "usually" pretty acurate although some are screwed up. Their German airplanes lack the swastika, of which I have spuriously attached with plastic model decals.

I can understand the PC reasoning behind it, but I really do consider the deletion of markings from scale models to be quite absurd.

Next thing, they'll be leaving off the guns and bombs.....

Agreed!

With adequate fighter cover they were truly effective in campaigns such as Poland, France and Russia!!

The true symbol of the Nazi Blitzkrieg...

Even now people still regonise them. I think they are a great lookin plane, even better with two 37mm cannons slung underneath. But they sure are easy pickins for enemy fighters.
