Some of you gents might already own a few But if you could only have 1 WWII weapon, what'll it be? I was going to add that you must find/re-load ammo for it but that might take all the fun out. My favorite; the BAR. Nothing works better trimming the hedges in the front yard than a full-auto 30.06.

I have always liked the look of the German "potato masher" grenades.
(Do soldiers even carry grenades anymore other than the RPG types ?)

Tiger I Ausf E...
I got room on the drive for one... And maybe enough room to fit a Panther next to it.
Failing that an FG42, StG44 and a Gewehr 43 would do!

TA, they sure do, particularly during OBUA (Operations in Built Up Areas). I don't think they are issued on a large scale unless they are likely to be needed, but they do get dished out.
My personal fave? Hmm, I think my baby Katya is a close contender:

Thanks for the information Stefan. One more question, why do you carry your spoon in your boot? Seems like it would get dirty or something.

I'm fortunate enough to own it already. Put it another way, if I had to get rid of everything except one item, this'd be it....

Every Red Army soldier carried a spoon in his boot, the famous 'spoon order' that commanded all soldiers to bring a spoon with them when they 'volunteered' began it and from then on every Red Army soldier carried a spoon in his boot. Interesting no?
They also make a useful close combat weapon:
I am actually rather surprised that you spotted (and itentified correctly) the spoon, yet made no comment about the Vodka bottle both are authentic mind you!

I would own either a Pzkpfw V Ausf. A or a Ju87 of any model, with 'Jericho's Trumpet' of course.
Yet, getting back to reality, I guess I would want to own either a Mauser Kar. 98k, a Mauser HSC Pistol, a PPSh 41 or a PPs 43. Probable go with the PPs 43 if anything.

If I had to choose just one WWII weapon....
hhhhhmmmmmmmmm...well I just can't choose one.
But one with wings - it would have to be an A6M2 Zero authentic and original in every detail..sigh.
One without wings - a little less extravagant but I would absolutely LOVE to have a German Luger. Not an unissued piece but one that actually has some combat history to it...heavier sigh.

Nothing more agressive and effective as a Churchill…

Not WW2 I know, but I used to own a deactivated SMLE No. 1 mk3* from 1918...till I discovered it wasn't really deactivated and had to ditch it in a hurry!

Gordon

Gordon, you should have driven to your local gun shop, given it to the owner and request he have it deactivate. It could have been yours!

I have always had a special affinity for the stuka. It's so...oddly pleasing. Plus, no better way to pick up girls! ...

My tastes run to opposite extremes. On the large side I would love to be the owner of a fully functional and armed Iowa class battleship. Imagine the fun one could have with that. On the opposite end, I know it came out well before WWII but was used then and is still in use to this day, an M1911A1 .45cal ACP, of which I own a Springfield model myself. And for those trivia buffs out there....how of you knew that the Singer sewing machine company was contracted and produced 500 of these weapons in 1941?
