ScreamingEagleMG42 is an unknown quantity at this point
My father was given by his father who fought in the Phillipines, an m1, an m1 carbine, and a japanese rifle which i have no idea what it is. It is about four feet long and is obviously a bolt action rifle. It also has a bayonet that is equipped through a ring over the barrell. It is in pretty beat up condition. It is marked with japanese characters along part of the site. I will try to post a picture of it. Anyway my question was if anybody could help me identify it, or show me a website to identify it? And would any German engineered rifles be in use in Japan? thanks

also when i was about 10 years old i was playing with it and threw the bolt back. It will slide back and forth but refuses to turn down, so that the bolt is sticking right out of the top of the gun. Any tips?

My best guess is an Arisaka type 99. This was the basic rifle for the Japanese infantryman.
