Re: ima mp44
The MP44 receiver was not made of aluminium - it was machined from a special type of alloy-steel. The end of the barrel was machine-pressed into the receiver and secured by a large pin which passes through the main housing and receiver block. The barrel could be replaced in the field by experienced ordnance men but it wasn't an easy job.
The main receiver housing held the receiver by means of pins and spot-welding and is very tightly-formed, making it almost impossible to remove the receiver block from the body of the weapon without destroying or seriously damaging it.
The ethos of the MP44 was - once damaged or worn, throw it away and get another one.....
