Re: Pretty pics from the Czech Republic
This was the Cezch Army Tank Day. They sure know how to set up these things, no doubt about it. And a great collection they have
Here's the flyer http://www.army.cz/files/9601/t.jpg

Re: Pretty pics from the Czech Republic
I know, PB. they paraded three regiments worth of them, hehe, must have been a pretty sight.
I can find almost no photos of that parade, bar some British Comets.

Look at the IWM archive.
Some great colour photos of the Generals after the parade.
Also many of the Parade itself including IS-3s.photo number BU 10257

Re: Pretty pics from the Czech Republic
There's more footage of it that crops up on television from time to time, the IS3's are shown coming on in a phalanx and then the camera cuts (maybe dodgy editing?) to British soldiers standing to attention along the route, a real ripple of 'what the F...?!" appears to pass along them at the sight of the new tanks.
Maybe apocryphal, and I can't for the life of me remember the names now, but a member of the US staff was said to have whispered to one of the UK party, "it's ok, we're still on your side".

Re: Pretty pics from the Czech Republic
Hi All,
I know its got nothing to do with the thread, but i must comment and say RAF Regt troops were in the British contingent.
One question - I`ve always called it the JS3 as it was named after Josef Stalin, why do the other contributers call it the IS3??
Who is right, or have tamiya got it wrong???

Re: Pretty pics from the Czech Republic
It's to do with the translation of his name from Russian to English.
Iosif Stalin.

Just got in from taking kids to school, put UKTV History on and it was last few minutes of the Comet Tank Restoration prog.
There was old David Fletcher saying it was Patton who said "Don't worry buddy we're still on your side."
The IS-3s did look damn good though.
