Well, on saturday, as I was sleeping at around 1PM, my Grandpa called my Dad and asked if we'd like to meet him at the police firing range to shoot.
He said of course. My dad woke me up, I showered, ect ect.

I shot the following weapons:

AR-15 w/ Red Dot scope
AR-15 w/ ECO Tech Reflex sight.
M14 Socom 16 rifle with scout scope.
And heres where this topic fits into WWII weapons..

An M1 carbine. Oh what a beauty she was.

Now, by now I bet you want pictures. Here we are:

Also! On thursday, I shot an M1 Garand. About 50 bullets. The feeding system, supposivly a spring in the feeder, wasnt working right, so I had cocked the bolt everytime. Still a wonderfull experience.

This is a pair of Dutch resistance crystal radios, built into a small metal can, and a matchbox. The image is from a postcard bought at a Dutch Resistance Museum in Amsterdam. The matchbox is marked in Swedish, but Swedish matches were sold in Holland for many years..

Great stuff, I don't get nearly enough range time (and when I do it's usually with some of the bigger toys) so I'm REALLY jealous. Would love to fire an M1, beautiful little gun.

Definitely a great experience. Knowing what the gun feels like in hand and how the shooting feels.

I have had a couple of moments I´ve understood why soldiers back in WW2 liked certain weapons only after I tried them myself.

Looks like fun! The only one I've fired is the AR-15. The sound of the recoil spring was thoroughly disquieting. Pop-boing....Pop-boing.

I know it's not WW2 but what were the M14 and AR-15 like to shoot? How did the different sights compare? I've handled their ilk quite a bit but never got any range time. I really want to fire one of the Canadian Demarco's which our SF guys love so much, apparently they are a dream on the range, I'm curious because they seemed so light compared to almost anything else I've fired.

Well, the Ar-15 is VERY light, as the m14 is very heavy with medium recoil, about same as an ak-47 would shoot. The m14 was a lovely weapon to shoot, although I was on my knees on concrete shooting it.

Eco tech reflex sight is a circle with a dot in the middle, and as if there was a cross, on the outside of the circle theres 4 small little lines.

The red dot is like a laser pointer insider a scope. No matter how you look into that scope, wherver that red dot is, that bullets going.

Both sights were made for use with both eyes open, to observe more of the battle field or shootout with police.

Very fun, and hoping to go again.

The M1 was a beauty. Kicks like a .22 rifle, if not less, and the bolt is just amazing sounding.

M1 thumb? I think I've seen that happen to a few of my buddies who were a bit careless when they were reassembling their rifles.

Lucky. All I've fired is the BAR and Springfield.

That typically only happens once to a customer, if the operating rod is not held open with the knife edge of your hand, John Garand's brainchild will quickly and smartly attempt to chamber the thumb without warning in one stout snap.
