I dont do equipment much.. But out of interest ww2 kit names.. Any kit at all be it a rifle or an aircraft or a destroyer.. What kit fits its name and why? Although not ww2.. An example of wasp helicoptor.. It buzzed round sounding and looking like one.. Any ww2 examples?

I would suggest the DUKW which morphed into DUCK in military service terminology, while it actually stood for the year of production (D), its intended purpose (U), and its drive system (K & W);

Another one that was (unfortunately) all too true, the name of the little amphibious GP-W (A) from Ford was SEEP. It was supposed to stand for Seagoing Jeep, but it problems with leakage and ease of swamping made the "seep" particularly infamous. The Soviets loved the little buggers though and made a copy of it at the GAZ factory (I forget the name they had for it)
