| What If? Alternate History: Speculate about WWII battles that never were. Could the Axis have won? What if Hitler had the bomb? |

Over the years I ave heard much speculation on communists coming to power in Germany, but never fascists in Russia. Personally, I think the political landscape of WW2 would have been drastically different. Japan might never have allied with Germany, or Russia and Germany allied together...

It is rare posibility. There was actually no very right-wing in Russia in 1917 (taking this date as date of the political change), just pro-zharists, pro-democracy, moderated socialist (mensheviks) but no strong right party. But let's suposse there was and that they take the power instead of the bolsheviks. My head is killing me, I cannot think so far until WWII. The political repercusions about the globe would have been enormous and many, many factors should be considered. The problem is that those factors do not exist.

This is a perfect example of the phrase that makes "What if?"'s so interesting:
Just change one thing and you change everything.

I agree, THAT possibility would be very interesting.
Here goes: The Romanovs would still be living, and the Tsar Nicholas still being in power, most likely would have tried to keep peace with Germany at all costs.
The Russian Royal Family would still be doing their things (im sure) that lead to their executions by the reds. But in this case-I more think that there COULD be a Civil War in Russia, and I doubt they could think of any other kind of war as the Romanovs would be kept busy trying to keep their Monarchy in tack and trying to end the Civil War.
Anyone else for expounding on this idea?

Russia and Germany would have been allies along with Japan and Italy. The only reason, I think, that Hitler didn't propose an alliance with Russia is because Hitler despised Communism, but loathed Russia at the same time.....

A Russian Japanese alliance is not something easily done given the timeframe...but then again, neither is a Russian fascist revolution!
